Titus Frâncu – The artist
We wanted for a long time to write something about Titus Francu. Well, everything started from Fagaras, Romania (The middle of the country) where a simple man makes unique sculpture, paintings and/or everything is related to art. With his humble thoughts, he started to paint from the time he was 6, everything learned from his father, a priest having a beautiful hobby: wood and the seamstress of King Michael of Romania, son of Carol the 2nd. His house is now a creation studio with a “medieval” air. In front of his door is written: “Don’t knock. I’ll come out from time to time!”. He doesn’t like to be considered an artist, but a restorer. On the other side we can say for sure that is a sculptor, painter, furniture restorer. He can copy any kind of paintings like is a printer but he have his own style.
“My father was Brâncusi and my mother, Michelangelo!” is saying, smiling.
Also, he is saying: “When I was 4, I wanted to see closer what my father was doing and, by mistake, he hit me with a wood hammer in the head, making me from that time to love wood and at the age of 6-7 I’ve made my first wood skates. At the age of 8 I started to work with alabaster”
Most of his tools, if are not made by him, are from his father. A beautiful man who deserves more attention. A lost man who found himself through his own hands.
